What do you think? Is television a good invention or not? Is it both good and bad?

I think that TV was a great invention because my parents watch the news on it and Dad enjoys shouting at the TV during sports such as Rugby and Cricket. I like watching the Simpsons. I also know that some people use it inappropriately by watching certain programs. So if you don’t use it appropriately than than it might as well not have been invented.

Does inappropriate use of an invention mean that the invention has no value or does it mean that man-kind needs to learn the barriers and discipline required to use it effectively? Is it the societies responsibility to put those boundaries in place or does the individual need to do so?

I think that the TV was a good invention because it mean that people can get information easily on the news and can get the weather forecast that shows you how the big could of rain is coming or something like that. The TV is also a good invention because it is entertainment for kids and channels like discovery are really good for learning as well.
The TV is also a bad invention because some kids get addicted and see some horrible programs that makes them have nightmare.

I think TV is sometimes good sometimes bad.some programs bad like Simmons.because they are bad for children,TV make children think the characters are real.some are good like news,sports.Because they can give people information like the weather.

I think that the Television was a great invention although some movies on it are bad and violent that doesn’t make the T.V a bad invention it means that whats on the TV is sometimes bad. But most of the time whats on T.V isn’t to violent until late at night when kids are ’supposed’ to be in bed. Some kids programs do include fighting, war and other bad things some examples of these are Dragonball z and kitchen job because in this program the host said 100 swear words in 60 minutes of footage.(these should be deleted!)

I think television is a great idea although some movies are really violent. But most of the time whats on T.V is not so violent until late at night when kids are ’supposed’ to be in bed. I think that it is a good invention because my parents like to watch the news you can find out what the weather is going to be. There are also lots of interesting programs. I know there a some bad things about TV for example little kids might see scary programs, they might see programs that have fighting and think it is OK.

I think that T.Vs were a good and bad invention. They were a good invention because some channels [history, animal planet] educate kids. And also parents can watch the news. But they are also a bad invention because a lot of movie are rated “M” for mature audiences 15 years and over. BUT kids under that age still watch it without even parental supervision.

I think that TV is a good invention because on a rainy day you can watch some TV. If your sister or brother is at party so you can’t play a game with anyone you can watch TV. If you want to know what the weather is going to be or what has been happening around the world so that you can sponsor someone or give some money to the people who survived the Victorian fires.
I think that TV is a bad invention Because It uses lots of power to use and you could use the power for better things like lighting the house. Why even watch TV when you can go outside and play on your the tramp, scooter or bike. You might also stay watching to like 9/10 oclock at night and you will have no energy and if you have no exercise you will get fat.

I think T.V is good when you want to know the news and the weather but when starts getting ‘late’ the T.V stations start putting violent and rude proggrames. It is better to watch things with an adult beside so they can tell you which proggrames you shouldn’t watch.

I think TV was a good invention because we wont get bored on wet days, we can find out the weather and global news, and it is a great source of entertainment. But, some people watch too much TV when they could be playing, talking, or learning. Also, some adults are not aware what there children are watching, which usually involves crime, killing, and some extreamly rude things I should not mention. The people who decide what is showed during kids viewing times should take off the vilant programs and rude shows and tell them that the following programs are inapropriate. We don’t want children that constantly think about bomming and guns, do we?

I think TV is a useful invention and like computers is a progession of technology. I believe that like everything in life moderation and balance is the key. There is an off switch and parents can chose to limit their children’s viewing time and also should monitor what their children are watching. It can be very relaxing and enjoyable to sit down and watch a movie or a favourite show with your family. Also the learning programmes, Discovery and Animal Planet are very informative and raise good family discussion and learning.
